Title: System Support Technician, Plant Systems

Location: Ottawa, Canada

Canadian Bank Note Company Limited . Central Plant Systems is seeking a highly proficient System Support Technician who will be responsible for providing system support working on a variety of hardware and software platforms and peripherals.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
  • Provide 1st point of contact for customers
  • Technical Phone support
  • Technical On-site support
  • Technical After-hours support rotation team member
  • Manage escalation path for issues requiring software and database support teams
  • Installation and configuration of system components (hardware and software)
  • Training of operators on system usage
  • PC and Peripherals repair (e.g. replace hard-disks, power supply, UPS batteries, printer maintenance)
  • Software troubleshooting (e.g. correcting installation or configuration problems)
  • Fault isolation (e.g. hardware, software, network, databases)
  • Maintain system inventory including spare parts and consumables
  • Systems Preventive Maintenance
  • Troubleshooting, problem resolution skills - ability to use formal problem solving methodologies (i.e. Kepner Tregoe) to isolate and resolve problems within an SLA tiered support model


Mandatory Qualifications:
  • College Diploma (minimum 2 years) in Computer Systems or equivalent
  • A least 2 years experience in providing technical support directly to end users covering the following: Hardware: Desktop workstations, Scanners, Digital Imaging and Printing Systems Software: Windows 2003 Server/AD, Windows 7/XP/2000, D/B Client software (Oracle 10 preferred) Client Server Applications & Web Applications
  • Experience with help desk tools and trouble ticket tracking processes
  • Successful candidates must qualify for or possess a valid Canadian security clearance (secret)
